Discover the authentic daily life of a mountain farm in Samoëns: watch the cows being milked, talk to the producers and taste farmhouse cheeses made on site.
At the GAEC Le Criou farm, visitors discover much more than just the sale of farmhouse cheeses: they immerse themselves in the authentic daily life of a family mountain farm, in the heart of the Samoëns countryside. Between 5.45pm and 7pm, Monday to Saturday, visitors can watch the cows being milked from outside the milking parlour, where they can talk directly to the farmers and gain a better understanding of the work that goes on around the herd every day.
The visit also allows visitors to observe Abundance cows being raised in accordance with local traditions, while discovering modern, passionate agriculture. Depending on the season, visitors can see the calves near the farm and admire the surrounding pastures, with a remarkable view of the Criou, Samoëns' emblematic mountain.
On site, visitors can discover and taste products made directly on the farm from the herd's raw, whole milk: fromage frais, faisselles, house specialties and mature cheeses such as Crioutin and Bourgeoise. The milk, processed just after milking, reflects the farm's know-how and the family's commitment to quality and local produce.
Through discussions with Aurore and her family, visitors leave with a better understanding of the mountain farming profession, combining tradition, innovation and passion for the land. A simple, lively and authentic experience, ideal for getting behind the scenes of the Giffre valley's landscapes and flavors.
