Description
“La Maison des Sources”, former Evian water handling facility
This Alpine-style building was constructed in the winter of 1899–1900 by architect Ernest Brunnarius for the Evian Mineral Waters Company .
It replaced the previous bottling plant on Rue Nationale, which had become too small due to a dramatic increase in sales.
At the time, the new facility was regarded as a model of its kind. It employed 140 workers and produced up to 15,000 bottles per day using advanced machinery. The rinsing of returnable bottles, filling, corking, labelling, and packing in wooden crates were all carried out in strict accordance with hygiene standards.
In 1952, bottling operations were moved elsewhere. The building then became the headquarters of the Evian Mineral Waters Company . Later acquired by the City of Évian and restored in 2017, it now houses various public services, including a nursery school.
