Walser habitat and natural environments: In the heart of the Mont-Blanc region, in the face of change, the Valorsine mountain dwellers, like the "teutonici" of 1264, have adapted... A 2-hour tour of the site offers food for thought: culture, history, climate, architecture... With over 750 years of Walser history, this heritage is unique in France. Accessible to all. Why Vallorcine isn't Swiss. Why Vallorcine isn't Swiss: As you cross the Col des Montets and leave the Chamonix valley behind, a new landscape is revealed, and a different culture is revealed through the people of Vallorcine, past and present. Modern logic would easily place Vallorcine within the neighboring confederation. Observations, discoveries and interpretations during a 2-hour visit... Accessible to all.
