Via Ferrata of the Cé Gorge

The zip lines are temporarily closed Approach: 20 min | Hike: 2 hrs 30 min | Return: 15 min Nestled in the heart of an unspoiled natural setting, this via ferrata invites you to make your way through cliffs, ladders, rope bridges, hidden caves, and a series of footbridges totaling 170 meters, all complemented by two optional zip lines measuring 90 and 110 meters. Throughout the experience, enjoy exceptional panoramic views of the Bargy Massif, Le Môle, and the entire valley. Two routes are available to suit all skill levels: an AD (Fairly Difficult) route, ideal for a first challenging and adventurous experience, and a D (Difficult) route with a more physically demanding overhanging section. Warning: there is no way to cut the course short. Thanks to its two slopes—east and west—the route naturally alternates between sunny and shaded sections as the day progresses and the sun moves across the sky. Access to the site: From the cemetery parking lot, walk along the road leading to the Espace Gypaète. Cross this playground and take the path that branches off to the left (sign indicating the via ferrata access). Descend the switchbacks until you reach the Cé stream, which you’ll need to cross. Turn right, then, at the via ferrata access sign, turn left. A few meters further on, you’ll find the start of the via ferrata. Be on the lookout for ticks. Route description: The route begins on a cable-assisted hiking trail before quickly leading to ladders to climb. The route quickly immerses you in a dizzying atmosphere and takes you through a variety of sections: ladders, a rope bridge, and a hidden cave, before reaching the fork between the “Difficult” and “Fairly Difficult” routes. -> “Fairly Difficult” Route: A route with more climbing equipment, featuring a rope bridge followed by two consecutive footbridges measuring 33 m and 60 m, before reaching the via ferrata junction. Follow the sign for “VF Exit.” -> “Difficult” Route: A route featuring a steep and rapid incline, constituting the most physically demanding section of the course. It leads you to an 83-meter footbridge (the longest in the Northern Alps). This takes you to the west face, where you’ll encounter dizzying traverses in a true “rock climbing” atmosphere, before reaching the via ferrata junction. Follow the sign for “Sortie VF.” Zip Line Option & End of the Course: You have two choices. You can take the 90-meter and 110-meter zip lines. WARNING: Do not attempt these without a Petzl Speed/Trac pulley (or equivalent). At the end of the zip lines, exit via an easy cable-assisted trail. If you do not have the proper equipment or do not wish to use the zip lines, continue straight ahead to reach the end of the zip line trail directly. Return: Return via the trail. At the fork, turn right. You’ll arrive behind the village church. Take a moment to enjoy the panoramic view. Minors must be accompanied by an adult, and beginners are encouraged to seek guidance from a professional. Minimum weight and height: 40 kg and 140 cm
