The bread ovens in La Frasse are remarkable for their state of preservation and because they are double ovens. These are communal ovens, built by the residents of Nancy for their own use, likely in the 19th century.

From Monday through Saturday, families took turns using them to bake bread, provided they supplied the firewood. A distinctive mark specific to each family was imprinted on each loaf. They remained in use until the 1930s and were restored in 1978–1979. They are so well-preserved that they are put back into use every year in September for the Bread Festival, which takes place at the same time as the European Heritage Days. There are very few remaining examples of ovens like these.
