Discover the technique of large-format silk paper collage through the following themes: Tree leaves OR animal tracks.
Step 1: I guide the children to identify features related to the theme (tree leaves or animal prints). Observation drawing is suggested, followed by imagination. Children are gradually invited to express themselves. A demonstration on my part is often necessary.
Step 2: The child chooses one of his or her drawings and then enlarges it on a large sheet: this process leads to a simplification and deformation of the initial drawing - his or her style is already present. The sheets are taped to the tables (adults and children do this).
Step 3: tissue paper collage requires a demonstration, as the technique is different from the one the children are familiar with. The effects of paper are demonstrated (transparency, mixing colors by superimposition). Color work between background and form. The colors are chosen by the child, but guided by my advice (color harmony).
Whole-class activities require the help of accompanying adults.
The activity can take place in the classroom or at the vacation center where the discovery class is being held, provided the classroom is large enough.
