Long hunted primarily for its impressive trophy, the ibex was saved from extinction at the last minute by the Dukes of Savoy in the 19th century. Efforts to protect it also led to the creation of the world’s first nature reserve.

Go on a winter hike to discover this iconic animal of our mountains, which is no longer afraid of humans. And with a little luck, you’ll get a chance to see it! An easy hike with 150 meters of elevation gain, suitable for anyone capable of walking for 2 hours. Bring winter hiking boots and weather-appropriate clothing. Snowshoes are available to borrow if there is snow. Please arrange for a car to get to the starting point; carpooling is possible. Bookings can be made at the Tourist Information Offices of the Evian-Vallée d'Abondance region - Leman Mountains Explore. Reservations are recommended for tours. Reservations can be made right up to the last minute via the online store. Mediators cannot accept cash payments under any circumstances. If the tour is full, the mediator has the right to refuse visitors. If the tour is full, online booking is no longer possible.
