A hike that takes you to a "plateau" located at an average altitude of 1,800 meters, offering an unparalleled view of the Mont Blanc massif.
Hiking along this very wide ridge, located between the eastern slope of the Aravis Range and the Arve Valley, provides a pleasant sense of escape.
With its sunny exposure and rich tradition of mountain agriculture, the Cordon hillside offers a panoramic view of the entire Mont Blanc region.
From the hamlet of Les Mouilles, after an initial climb through the forest, discover a magnificent 360° viewpoint overlooking the Aravis, the Tête du Coloney, the Arve Valley, Mont Joly, and the Combloux-Cordon hillside stretching out below you.
You’ll then find yourself on the Plateau des Bénés, facing the Mont Blanc Massif. The trail leads you along this broad ridge, where the landscapes are wide open, all the way to the foot of the Grand Croisse Baulet, a peak rising to 2,236 meters.
Once you reach the Cabane du Petit Pâtre, take some time to enjoy the picnic area while taking in the view before heading back down to your starting point.
Caution: There is a dangerous section near Les Seyttets (where there is a sheep pen and mountain dogs), but it is passable. An alternative route is recommended by Tête Noire.
No matter what hike you’re planning, be sure to pack cereal bars, plenty of water, sunglasses, sunscreen, a small first-aid kit, as well as clothing appropriate for your outing based on the season and the forecast.
