This hike is ideal on hot days, as the trail runs mostly through the woods. You’ll enjoy beautiful views of the monastery’s rooftops (La Chartreuse du Reposoir) and the surrounding peaks.

Starting from the village of Le Reposoir, nestled between the Bargy Range and the Aravis Range, follow in the footsteps of the Carthusian monks through the Béol Valley. The area is steeped in a rich religious heritage dating back to the 12th century and is home to a jewel of local history: the Reposoir Monastery. This hike winds through magnificent scenery; simply look up to admire the peaks surrounding the village. In the shade of the woods, the trail connects the areas known as La Touvière—a former tuff quarry—and La Caronière, which marks the arrival at the former Chartreuse de Reposoir. There, you’ll have the opportunity to explore this timeless building, designated a historic monument. Feel free to stop by the Reposoir Tourist Office to find out about the different ways to immerse yourself in the valley’s history. No matter what hike you're planning, be sure to pack cereal bars, plenty of water, sunglasses, sunscreen, a small first-aid kit, and clothing appropriate for your outing based on the season and the forecast.
