Description
A century of upheaval, with five months of hell and seven months of winter. A century of hardship, but also of progress. The school, the church, the Savoyard land registry, the French occupation… Discover how the climate has shaped life in this village during a walk.
The community of Cordon has always been very vibrant, as evidenced by the numerous legal disputes with neighboring alpine herders.
The “Little Ice Age” led to the construction of sturdy dwellings suited to those long winter months under the snow.
This century also saw the construction of a church, built in the center of the village in the style of the time: Alpine Baroque.
Through the history of the very first mountain school in Savoie, the story of immigration is brought to light.
As you stroll through the exhibition, all the upheavals of this century unfold before you. Tours are suitable for children.
