The route takes you through beautiful alpine pastures and offers splendid views of the mountains. You'll visit local farms and end the first day in the village of Le Reposoir, known for its Carmelite monastery.

This route immerses you in the alpine landscape between the villages of Romme and Le Reposoir. You’ll start by passing through the Vormy alpine pasture, where you can sample local cheeses. As you cross vast expanses of alpine pastures, you’ll be dazzled by the spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The trail then takes you to Le Reposoir, a small picturesque village home to the Carmelite convent—a peaceful place where the Sisters of the Chartreuse welcome visitors. You can also enjoy Lake Carmel, an ideal spot for photos. The first day ends at the “La Chartreuse” hotel and restaurant. The next day, you’ll head to Romme along a forest trail. No matter what hike you're planning, be sure to pack cereal bars, plenty of water, sunglasses, sunscreen, a small first-aid kit, and clothing appropriate for your outing based on the season and the forecast.

Further information on localisation

Head to the Col de Romme, a small hamlet in Nancy-sur-Cluses. Once you reach the pass, drive through the village and park in the parking lot next to the pond and the bus shelter.

The trail itself is free; you pay for lodging (vacation rentals, mountain huts, hotels) and services (guided tours led by a mountain professional).
