December 1924, Arcueil, south of Paris. In his small apartment—which he nicknames his “closet”—Erik Satie, a well-known pianist and composer with an unusual and whimsical personality, has been suffering from persistent stomach pains for several months. On the advice of his friend Cocteau, he receives a visit from Dr. Duvernay, who, among other facets of his personality, turns out to be the doctor to the “celebrities of the time.” Although the two men quickly strike up a rapport, the doctor’s diagnosis of the famous composer is nonetheless final…
