Starting from the Cuchet car park, this beautiful MTB loop takes you up to the heights of Combloux, alternating between forest sections, open alpine pastures and remarkable panoramic views.
The climb begins quite steeply to reach the peaceful setting of the Chalet de la Vieille. The route then continues towards the Beauregard alpine pasture, a charming mountain building that hosts exhibitions and various workshops throughout the summer, accompanied by the sound of cowbells from the “Belles des Champs” grazing just below. Next, head towards the lovely Ravine alpine pastures before reaching the summit of Le Jaillet.
Here, you’ll likely find plenty of activity, as Le Jaillet is a popular meeting point for families in summer, with its playground and fun activities in July and August (zip line, big air bag, giant swing, scooter descents and a food truck for a well-earned break). The route then continues towards the summit of Les Salles, with a highly recommended detour to the Croix des Salles viewpoint to enjoy a spectacular 360° panorama over the Mont-Blanc massif, undoubtedly one of the finest viewpoints in the area. As this section is exposed with steep drops, it is recommended to dismount and enjoy the view safely.
From the summit of Les Salles, the descent heads towards Plaine Joux and then Le Châble, before returning to Cuchet. A route without major technical difficulty, but requiring good physical fitness due to its length and elevation gain. It is possible to take the Le Jaillet gondola to reduce the climb.
Bike wash hose available behind the basin near the “Loisirs Assis Évasion” hut in the Cuchet car park.
Restrooms available at the Cuchet car park and at the Beauregard alpine pasture.
