A pleasant hike through peaceful, unspoiled nature. Located in the Aravis mountain range, the Mont-Ferront alpine pastures are situated within a
natural area (ZNIEFF), so you can spot a wide variety of birds in this region.
From Chéron to Creux de Varny: 45 minutes From the chapel, take the paved road on the left. Walk uphill to the last house, and at the end of the road, take the path on your left that leads up into the forest. Then follow the red-and-white GR 96 trail markers. At the first intersection, turn right. After about 30 minutes of climbing, you’ll reach a parking lot, the Creux de Varny. From Creux de Varny to Mont-Ferront: 35 minutes Behind the information sign, take the single-track trail that climbs through the forest. Cross the forest road and continue on the path directly across from it. After about a 30-minute walk, you’ll reach the mountain pasture. The Notre-Dame des Chalets chapel in the Mont-Ferront mountain pasture is actually a wayside shrine, built in 1954. Continue along the trail to gain a little elevation and admire the panoramic view. From Mont-Ferront to Chéron: 50 minutes. Return via the same route.

From Cluses, take the D1205 toward Sallanches. At the entrance to the village of Magland, at the roundabout, take Route du Crêtet on your right, cross the highway bridge, then the bridge over the Arve River. At the intersection in the hamlet of Les Villards, turn right onto Route de Mont-Ferront. Drive through several hamlets. At a place called “Les Ranziers,” turn left onto Route de la Moranche. Then, in Moranche, turn right onto Route de Chéron. Enter the hamlet of Chéron, where you can park in the lot by the small chapel (limited space).Additional rate information
