La Caronière - Winter Hike

The trail begins at the edge of the lake. Stroll peacefully along the shore toward the Carmel du Reposoir. Depending on snow conditions, this is where you can put on your snowshoes. At the foot of the Carmel, take the path that climbs to your right. After a short climb, turn left to follow the trail that runs along the edge of the forest. This balcony-like section offers a spectacular and breathtaking view of the rooftops of the Carmel below, nestled in the embrace of the surrounding mountains. Take a moment to admire the architecture of this historic landmark from this natural viewpoint. Continue to the edge of the wooded area. There, turn right to venture deeper into the woods. The trail winds pleasantly beneath the trees, offering a quiet, cozy atmosphere typical of winter outings. As you emerge from the woods, the landscape opens up again. Continue along the main trail, which climbs to the left through the snow-covered alpine meadows. This final section leads you to the Caronière chalet, the highest point of your hike. Return: After enjoying the tranquility of the valley, return via the same route you took on the way there. The descent will allow you to rediscover the views of the Reposoir Valley from a different angle. Be sure to bring hiking poles and waterproof hiking boots to get the most out of your hike.
