Description
The Congregation of the Sisters of Charity, founded in Besançon in 1789 by Saint Jeanne-Antide Thouret for the spiritual and temporal service of the poor, established itself in La Roche in the convent built in 1838.
Built in a Neo-Romanesque-Byzantine style, the convent chapel reveals the diverse inspirations and influences shaping its unique architecture, with commentary provided by the Sisters of Charity and a Savoie Mont-Blanc Heritage Guide. The visit concludes in the peaceful gardens, following a viewing of the stained-glass windows.
