Description
In Combloux, the ESF helps people with disabilities discover or practice sit-skiing. Whether using a tandem ski, mono-ski, or ski-kart, specialized instructors tailor the experience to each individual's needs.
➡️ The experience in brief
In Combloux, the thrill of the slopes is shared through adaptive skiing (*handiski*).
For several years, the Combloux ESF (French Ski School) has offered lessons tailored to people with disabilities, featuring a team of around fifteen instructors specializing in guiding and teaching seated skiing.
Depending on individual needs and levels of independence, various types of equipment can be used: tandem ski, mono-ski, or ski-kart.
➡️ Where it takes place
Adaptive ski lessons meet at the ESF chalet in La Cry, at the base of the Combloux ski area.
➡️ Activity highlights
The ESF has a range of adaptive skiing equipment available:
- 1 mono-ski (available in multiple sizes);
- 4 tandem skis;
- 1 pair of large outriggers (stabilizers);
- 1 ski-kart (available in different sizes, including a child size).
The Portes du Mont-Blanc ski area is also set up to facilitate adaptive skiing, featuring ski lifts adapted for various types of sit-skis and staff trained to assist with boarding if necessary.
➡️ What to expect
Depending on your experience level and the chosen equipment, your instructor will guide you as you discover the sensation of gliding, improve your skills, or simply enjoy the ski area in conditions suited to your needs.
With a tandem ski, the instructor handles the steering. With a mono-ski or ski-kart, the instruction can focus more on learning and progression, depending on the participant's abilities and goals.
➡️ When can you enjoy this activity?
Lessons are offered during the winter season, while the Combloux ski area is open.
Sessions last a minimum of 2 hours.
➡️ Good to know before you come
Adaptive skiing equipment is provided for use during lesson hours. However, each participant must have a lift pass, which should be purchased in advance at the resort ticket offices.
Please note that Handi-Ski packages can be booked by post on plain paper with payment by cheque. No reservations will be taken over the phone.
