What is a fresco? What is it made of? This artistic workshop will allow you to learn all about this ancient art and to try your hand at making it.

The Abbey of Abondance is famous for its cloister decorated with magnificent 15th century wall paintings. First, the students will go to the workshop room where they will learn about the materials and make their own lime plaster. Then, in a second phase, the class goes to the cloister where mural painting techniques, conservation and restoration are discussed. Before returning to the classroom, they will have drawn a picture in the cloister which they will reproduce and colour on their fresco. Reservation required.

Access

From the shores of Lake Geneva, access via the Gavot plateau, heading towards the Abondance valley (approx. 40 mins).

The entrance to the site is located at Place de l’Abbatiale, accessible from the village centre via the Passage des Chanoines.

Separate access to the church (no visits during services).
