Set out to conquer the Grand Croisse Baulet from Avenaz—a challenging and strenuous hike. Reaching a peak of 2,236 meters, this trail—classified as difficult (red level)—promises breathtaking mountain views.

Warning: Pastou dogs (livestock guardian dogs) are present on the Croisse Baulet mountain pasture from July through approximately mid-September.
As stipulated by Municipal Ordinance No. 18/2024, domestic dogs are prohibited on the communal alpine pasture around Montagne de Croisse Baulet between July 1 and September 15.
Update as of June 3, 2026: Roadwork on the forest road toward Les Plaines is scheduled through Friday, July 3. This road will therefore be closed during the work. To reach your destination, you can take the Cornillon trail, either uphill or downhill. Contact Cordon Tourisme for more information.

Whatever your hike, remember to pack cereal bars, plenty of water, sunglasses, sun cream, a small first-aid kit, and clothing suited to the season and weather forecast.
