Feu la fôret Theater

Following *Mort d’une montagne*, a captivating performance presented in 2022 as part of *Les Chemins de Traverse*, the *Chant des Pistes* collective continues its exploration of the connection between humans and their environment. While the first installment addressed the problem of high-altitude rockfalls, the second tackles another consequence of global warming: fire. We return to the imaginary Hautes Aigues mountain range, where a massive fire has ravaged the Ondes Forest. Very quickly, an investigation is launched to determine the cause of the blaze. We follow a young female carpenter who is also a volunteer firefighter, a forager who has seen his land go up in smoke, an elected official and a forester seeking to restore their forest, and a young farmer taking over the family farm. Blurring the lines between documentary theater and fiction, the play explores our relationship with one another and with the natural world, as well as the need to rebuild—and to rebuild ourselves—from the ashes.
