Mythical sovereigns, favorites, lovers, rivals, or women in the shadows—they all share the same fate: to live in close proximity to power and the passions it ignites. With “Reines & Favorites,” Véronique Valdès and Titta Carvelli invite the audience on a captivating journey through three centuries of music, from Purcell to Kurt Weill, revealing the many facets of these exceptional women. Conceived as a true dramatic arc, this recital brings to life—in the intimate setting of a voice-and-piano duo—the voices of these women whose stories unfold between splendor and the abyss.
