Description
The present church is an 18th-century building in the classical style. It consists of a single nave, a transept, and a choir. The nave has a barrel vault, and the capitals of the columns are carved with plant and figurative motifs.
The first church in Scionzier was built in the 12th century on the ruins of an early Christian church. It was rebuilt in the 14th century and again in the 18th century.
Notable features:
The Church of Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens is a fine example of classical architecture. It is notable for its bell wall with a scalloped gable, which is characteristic of Savoyard architecture.
The church also houses a rich artistic heritage, including:
A 14th-century polychrome wooden statue of Saint Peter, which is designated a historic monument.
An 18th-century gilded wooden altarpiece depicting the life of Saint Peter.
Stained-glass windows, created in the 19th century, depicting biblical scenes and saints.
