Chamois and company

This activity enables teachers to introduce their pupils to the wild ungulate mammals of the Salève, focusing on identification criteria, general ecology and the observation of signs of presence. Students will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with common mid-mountain fauna while learning about the biology of these species, including their diet, habitat, reproduction and even their calls. They will also discover how to use a determination key and a simple identification guide to learn more about animals such as chamois, roe deer, red deer and wild boar. This activity is in line with school curricula, particularly for Cycle 2, which addresses the issue of recognizing the living world, and Cycle 3, which explores the diversity of living beings and their functions, as well as their relationship with the environment. By combining observation and learning, this experience aims to raise awareness of the richness of biodiversity and the importance of species conservation. Indoor activities can be adapted if the group includes one or more disabled people. This activity will be open to kindergarten children (cycle 1) from April 2025.
