Renovated since 2019, the Buvette Cachat, a masterpiece of Art Nouveau, will open to the public in summer 2026. It will house a center for the architecture and heritage of the territory of the Pays d'art et d'histoire of the country of Evian and the valley of Abondance.
It is on the site of the Sainte-Catherine de la Touvière church, demolished at the end of the 18th century, that a bathing establishment was built in 1826 using water from the Cachat spring. It is modified several times to adapt it to the growing number of people taking the waters and to the evolution of care. In 1905, the Société des eaux minérales (Mineral Water Company) replaced it with this refreshment bar, the centre of the resort's social life. Designed by the architect Albert Hébrard, it is a masterpiece of Art Nouveau, all curves and counter-curves, whose monumental entrance overlooks the Rue Nationale. The roof structure of the large hall, decorated with stained-glass windows with floral motifs and covered with glazed tiles, is listed as a Historic Monument. It houses a graceful statue by the sculptor Charles Beylard, "Apotheosis of the Cachat spring", a recent copy of which is in front of the spring.

The CIAP pays d'Évian - vallée d'Abondance will be installed on the first floor of the Buvette Cachat. This emblematic Art Nouveau building is located in the heart of the city. Its location, charm and fame will favor the interest of visitors. It will offer an immersion in the local architecture and heritage by retracing their evolution until today, while offering a playful and surprising approach, far from classic museums, to entertain, surprise and move visitors whether they are inhabitants or passing through the territory.

Thanks to geographical, historical, political, religious, socio-economic and technical elements, the CIAP will raise awareness about architectural, urban and landscape transformations. By facilitating the understanding of heritage, it will encourage to adopt a respectful and sustainable approach towards the territory, and to create a collective awareness for the preservation and enhancement of local wealth.

Reservation mandatory for group visits from 15 people from early September to late June on Thursday and Friday mornings.
