The Praz de Lys Sommand Nordic ski area extends over 60 kilometres of meticulously groomed runs, offering cross-country skiers a veritable journey through luminous mountain pastures and snow-covered forests. Bathed in brilliant sunlight, the site offers breathtaking panoramas. With the Haute-Savoie Nordic label, it is recognised as one of the best Nordic areas in the region, thanks to its impressive size and the quality of its facilities.

Experience An exceptional playground for cross-country skiing

In the 18th century, the village made its living from agriculture, despite the difficulties of farming in an environment with long, harsh winters. In 1741, two Englishmen, William Windham and Richard Pocock, set off on an adventure in the valley. They discovered the Bois glacier. Fascinated by this expanse of ice, they gave it its current name: the “Mer de Glace”.

Haute-Savoie Nordic Nordic excellence in the Alps

Haute-Savoie Nordic has 25 Nordic areas and 26 cross-country ski centres, making cross-country skiing accessible to everyone, from beginners to experienced skiers. With over 800km of marked trails, both skating and classic, Haute-Savoie is an ideal playground for cross-country skiing, as well as snowshoeing, biathlon and dog-sledding.

Events such as the Haute-Savoie Nordic Challenge and the night-time rounds of the trails provide a friendly atmosphere throughout the season.
