Palais Lumière

Heritage jewel and cultural heart of Evian

Built in 1902, the Palais Lumière in Evian embodies the elegance of 20th-centuryspa towns. A former spa resort, its imposing architecture and majestic dome make it an emblematic monument on the shores of Lake Geneva.

Not to be missed An exceptional spa heritage

Inaugurated in 1902, the Palais Lumière was once a prestigious spa with a capacity for up to 1,200 treatments a day. Designed by the architect Ernest Brunnarius, the building’s monumental façade, framed by bell towers and decorated with earthenware tiles, is still impressive today. Under the entrance porch, two canvases by the painter Jean Benderly celebrate water, Evian’s emblematic resource. Closed in 1984 and then classified as a Historic Monument, the building has been carefully restored in keeping with its original architecture. It remains a striking testimony to the town’s spa past and its deep connection with water.

Experience An experience between history, art and modernity

The Palais Lumière offers visitors a rich experience accessible to all. Whether you’re an art lover, a history buff or just looking for an inspiring place to visit, the Palais Lumière is an invitation to discover. In an exceptional architectural setting, the lively and demanding cultural programme offers exhibitions, lectures, screenings and a variety of events throughout the year. With its walls steeped in history, this emblematic Evian venue perpetuates a tradition of hospitality and knowledge, elegantly blending the splendours of the past with the creative élan of the present.
