Sculpture - 3000° Celsius

Rond point de la Crénière, Avenue St Martin, A40-sortie 21, 74190 Passy
3000° Celcius represents a great oven (Raymond Gosselin, 1989).
3000° Celsius is the temperature required for the production of Manganese at the factory in Chedde. This work of art, dedicated to the staff at the factory, represents a great oven. In the centre a mobile crown of nine graphite electrodes overhangs a steel basin full of manganese crystals, surrounded by stainless steel and steel wires and three door jambs. The blue, red and white enamel paint reminds us of the bicentenary of the French Revolution, on which date this work of art was officially presented. Animated by the wind or by the hand of man, the sculptures by Gosselin (1924) represent a combination of the imaginary, pleasure and technology.
