An outing between the picturesque medieval town of Yvoire and the Domaine de Rovorée-la Chataignière, a sensitive natural area which is an excellent example of sustainable management.
This guided walk, starting in Yvoire and following the greenway before skirting the banks of Lake Geneva, will take you to the Domaine de Rovorée-la Chataignière. This 24-hectare site is home to an ancient forest with centuries-old chestnut trees, lakeshores with tufa caves, medieval remains, and offers a splendid panorama of Lake Geneva. It also has a very rich biodiversity. The management of this site must therefore meet various challenges. Throughout the tour, the following themes will be addressed
- the history of the village of Yvoire and its human occupation (from the 14th to the 21st century)
- medieval and contemporary architecture (mansion)
- the formation of landscapes and the use of local resources: links with geology;
- the management of the site, classified as a Sensitive Natural Area: problems (which concern the fauna, flora, meadows, forest, fishing, the use of the site, mobility, etc.) and possible solutions.
Depending on the season (April-September), the return trip can be made by solar-powered boat (with a supplement).
Duration of the outing: 3 to 3.5 hours - fallback indoors if the weather is bad - picnic on site on request.
