Using the troll as a starting point, we explore the definition/composition of portraiture in art. A dry pastel drawing (A2 format) is created / then a relief painting (A4 format) is created from collected natural elements.
Step 1: Define the characteristics of the portrait, then those of the troll. Preparatory drawings, then creation of a troll portrait in dry pastels on medium format. This process will enable us to simplify the forms (getting away from the detail created by the pencil) and experience a gentle tactile sensation (working with the fingers).
2nd step: Creation of a plant/mineral painting. Preparation of a sand/glue binder, then composition of a troll portrait using natural elements gathered beforehand (transfer and simplification of forms seen in drawing - detour and imagination).
The child is encouraged to change his or her codes of artistic expression through a progressive, guided activity, while at the same time having a space for personal expression. The results are surprising. The main objective is to enjoy the artistic activity.
