La Roche sur Foron, in addition to its 11th-century medieval charm, is 25 km from Annecy and Geneva (or less than 30 minutes from both by train), and less than an hour from Chamonix and Italy via the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Skiers will find several ski resorts within a 30 km radius, including La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand and Les Brasses. You'll also be 30 minutes from the Plateau des Glières, a Mecca of the French Resistance and a paradise for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and mountain hiking in summer.
