Leman lake

Square Henri Buet, 74500 Évian-les-Bains
Leman lake is the largest lake in Western Europe. With a length of 72km and a depth of 310m, it is a real "small inland sea" and acts as a natural border between France and Switzerland.
"I have before me a summer sky, the sun, hillsides covered with ripe vines, and this magnificent emerald of Lake Geneva embedded in mountains of snow as if in a silver silverwork." (François-René de Chateaubriand, Mémoires d'outre-tombe, 1848)
Lake Geneva has inspired more than one artist and even today an intense cultural life is developing thanks to the different cities that surround it, both on the French and Swiss sides.
The art of living on the shores of Lake Geneva follows a rhythm that is unique to it: taking the time to enjoy every moment. One can thus contemplate this calm and blue expanse of water at will, or feel invigorated by the breeze from the North which will agitate its waters under threatening clouds. Each season develops unique atmospheres, colors, and emotions.
Despite its glacial origin, the Lake Geneva is a site renowned for the practice of water sports - sailing, rowing, kayaking - as well as diving, snorkeling and kite surfing. The many beaches along its banks attract bathers from late May to late September, and some will swim there throughout the year.
