You can see an oratory with wonderful stained glass windows and façades adorned with Jerusalem stone. Straddling the Franco-Swiss border, when numerous exiles crossed the border to take refuge in Switzerland during the Second World War.
While most of the cemetery is in the French commune of Etrembières, the main entrance is in the Swiss commune of Veyrier.
Many exiles crossed the cemetery into Switzerland during the Second World War. At the end of the war, the phenomenon continued in the opposite direction, with Jewish refugees using the passage to transit to the ports of southern France, thanks to the complicity of French railwaymen, before embarking for Palestine.
Among the personalities buried in this cemetery are Zino Davidoff, creator of the famous cigar brand of the same name, and writer Albert Cohen, author of the literary success Belle du Seigneur...
