A fun-filled day for young and old to discover poetry and the world of artists' books.
During this day, children discover a special artistic world, that of the artist's book. The dialogue between poet and artist is the common thread running through our workshops and guided tours of the various sites that make up the Butor Archipelago. We begin with a guided tour of the current temporary exhibition at the Manoir des livres, to introduce visitors to this art form. We then visit the office of writer and poet Michel Butor, where every object is a work of art. The rest of the day is devoted to a poetic stroll through the small village of Lucinges, along wooded paths and narrow streets. During this easy walk, the mediators read poems by local poets in front of the related landscapes. Children can also collect natural elements for the following workshop. The practical workshop consists in creating an Accordion Book inspired by the poetry and elements collected during the Butorian walk. Students choose a poem and transcribe it using collage, writing and cut-outs. They work individually with different creative tools and leave with their creation.
We adapt our approach and the duration of our workshops to suit the age of the children. We can revise the program if you wish to choose other workshops. We invite you to consult the file proposed here for details of the organization.
