Château des Rubins - Observatoire des Alpes, 105 montée des Rubins, 74700 Sallanches
In addition to the visit to the château's exhibitions, the children's group will take part in a workshop with a mediator on the secrets of writing in the Middle Ages.
From medieval scrolls to 21st-century emails, it's an understatement to say that mankind's relationship with writing and its media has changed radically in the space of a thousand years!
The aim of this workshop is to present the long history of writing, while experimenting with medieval writing techniques.

The workshop takes place in 2 stages:
- in small groups, pupils discover writing tools and media from different eras and civilizations, hypothesizing and determining the tools used in the Middle Ages at Château des Rubins...
- students experiment with pen and calamus writing on paper

Pedagogical objectives :
- Find their place in time
- Discover the processes and techniques of writing in the Middle Ages
- Compare the advantages and disadvantages of different writing tools
- Compare the uses of writing in the Middle Ages with those of today
- Feel the different ways of writing with different tools
- Working as a team
