Festival International du Film d'Animation

Did you know? Since 1960, Annecy has been the world capital of animated films! Animation is more than just the traditional "cartoon". It's an art form in its own right, and one that has grown in renown over the decades! Every year in June, the Festival brings together several thousand aficionados; renowned animators and budding artists, directors and producers, teachers and students, graphic designers and artists, enthusiasts and neophytes, the general public... all come together to exchange ideas. All nationalities come together to elect the best animated film of the year, and award numerous prizes... For the general public, it's a unique opportunity to attend theatrical world premieres and enjoy free outdoor screenings on the Pâquier, in a warm, international atmosphere. It's also a strategic location where producers and broadcasters from many countries come to sell or buy the latest releases under the tents of the Marché International du Film d'Animation. The Festival promotes access to animation for all audiences. A number of screenings and events offer special facilities for people with special needs: a PMR ramp for outdoor screenings on the Pâquier, audiodescription, inclusive workshops, magnetic induction loop, LSF interpreter...
