The traditional torchlight descent is back in Châtel, with a charity event open to all : "Les P'tits Flambeaux".
What is Les P'tits Flambeaux?
It's a national solidarity event taking place on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Its aim is to mobilize all French ski resorts around a common goal: to raise funds to enable children who are not fortunate enough to be able to go on vacation to discover the French massifs and the benefits of the mountains. Funds raised will be donated to the following 3 associations: "Enfance & Montagne", "Génération Montagne", and "Petits Princes".
Torches will be on sale at the ESF office and at Châtel Tourisme, for €10 each.
Program:
17:30-18:30: ascent via the Pierre-Longue chairlift (bring a valid ski pass).
6:30pm (or as soon as it gets dark): Descent of the "La Belette" green run, with Châtel ESF instructors. Recommended ski level: flocon.
Throughout the event: musical entertainment with the "Bandastico" brass band and hot drinks served in front of the Plaine Dranse hors-sac hall.
In addition to the usual shuttle service, other free shuttles will run between the center of Châtel and the Pierre Longue chairlift:
- at 18:00 Centre → Pierre Longue
- at 6:15pm Centre → Pierre Longue
Return :
- at 7:15 pm Pierre Longue → Centre
Please note: children MUST be accompanied by an adult during the descent (the adult must also bring a torch).
A good level of skiing is recommended for a night descent.
