It was certainly the former chapel of the Château du Pont-Vieux, of which some foundations can be seen.
It suffered a fire in 1732, which also destroyed the presbytery. The roof was redone in 1851. In 1870, the church received stained-glass windows by H. Baud, replaced in 1924-25 by the current windows depicting Savoyard saints and the coats of arms of Alby's noble families.
