Le Petit-Bornand-les-Glières, 74130 Le Petit-Bornand-les-Glières
The river Borne is a small river, the most stocked with fish in the department and home to mostly local brown trout. It is popular with fly-fishing enthusiasts and canoeists.
The Borne flows through the villages of Le Grand-Bornand, Saint-Jean-de-Sixt, Entremont, Le Petite-Bornand-les-Glières, Saint-Pierre-en-Faucigny and Bonneville. Its source is at the Col de l'Oulettaz, at an altitude of almost 1900 m. It is a typical alpine mountain stream and the valley through which it flows is quite enclosed, with lots of trees. It flows through gorges that its rushing waters have carved out over time and it exits into the Arve plain about 31 km further down. Both the fish and anglers seem to appreciate its bubbling waters.
