Every year, the "mountain princesses", cows and heifers of the Abondance breed, parade before an admiring audience of novices and experts.
This contest has been held every autumn since 1282.
7:30am: Arrival of the herds.
10am-noon: Presentation before the jury.
From 11am: Musical entertainment.
12-2pm: Refreshments and snacks.
3-4.30pm: Prize ceremony and winners' parade commented by an expert.
4.30-5pm: Cow weigh-in. Guess the exact weight of the cow to win the magnificent cow bell with its decorated leather strap that the cow has worn throughout the day. Varied entertainment, local produce and craft stalls, music and exhibitions of specific mountain farming equipment.
