A demanding variant of the climb to Plaine-Joux

Office de Tourisme, 8 Grand-rue salvador allende, 74190 Passy
This itinerary starts at the Passy Mont-Blanc Tourist Office and takes you up to the resort of Passy Plaine-Joux on small, steep mountain roads! Don't worry: the view from the summit will reward all your efforts.
From the Tourist Office, head towards Chedde (Grande Rue Salvador Allende, rue Paul Corbin, Route des Soudans) and start your climb up the côte des Soudans, near the beautiful Cascade de Coeur.
This is where the Tour de France 2023 time trial began, with Jonas Vingegaard taking a stunning victory!
After this first winding climb, turn left onto the departmental road before turning right 800 m further on towards Chemin du Perrey. The gradient increases and the effort becomes more sustained. This is not the time to be in the red, however, as you'll soon come to the côte de Maffrey, which takes you to the Plateau d'Assy.
Cross the Plateau d'Assy (rue d'Anterne, promenade Marie Curie) and join the departmental road leading to Plaine-Joux. You'll pass the Eglise Notre-Dame-de-Toute-Grâce, a jewel of sacred art, and a former sanatorium (Sancellemoz).
The last few kilometers are slightly less steep on a wider road, revealing increasingly spectacular views of the Fiz mountains and Mont-Blanc.
At Passy Plaine-Joux, a return trip to Lac Vert is not out of the question if you want to discover an exceptional natural site.
